Dear Friends,
Hello.
I am facing a problem related to O.S.The problem is like this I have a Netware server with Oracle 7.3.3 and I am migrating to 8.1.7 version of Oracle.
I want to take a full database export and the dump file created will be approximately 6 GB.My sys admin person told me that on Netware you cannot have the file more than 4GB in size .So, how do I take full database Export and Import it later on.
Is there a way through which I can access the Export file from my Netware server to Windows platform during Import.
can anybody suggest a way out of this.
Kindly help me on this.
Milind

Hi,
Solution to your Problem is very simple.
Make multiple Export files as follows:
EXP scott/tiger@dbn005 Full=y buffer=1024 File=scott1.dmp,scott2.dmp,scott3.dmp filesize=2G
Note that even if these 3 files are not sufficient for export then as soon as these 3 files of 2GB each are full then system will prompt you provide new file name.
HTH

Himanshu

Dear Himanshu,
I have one more problem, Oracle 7.3.4 on Netware version 4 is not supporting Filesize parameter in Export.
I dont know where the problem is .
There is any way out of this if you can suggest.

Hi,
I have some solution like:-
Make multiple Export files as follows:
EXP scott/tiger@dbn005 Full=y buffer=1024 File=scott1.dmp,scott2.dmp,scott3.dmp filesize=2G
Note that even if these 3 files are not sufficient for export then as soon as these 3 files of 2GB each are full then system will prompt you provide new file name.
If your version is Oracle 7 or not equivalent to 8i then:-
i believe filesize is introduced only in 8i.
the standard workarounds would be
--> export to a raw device or tape
--> use unix pipes.
regards
Milind.
