we have Oracle 8.0.5.2.1
init.ora:
LOG_ARCHIVE_START = TRUE
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST = /arch1
LOG_ARCHIVE_DUPLEX_DEST = /arch2
LOG_ARCHIVE_MIN_SUCCEED_DEST = 1
LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT = log%S.arc

the DUPLEX_DEST writes to an NFS.
if the NFS not available the DB stands!!!
i think the parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_MIN_SUCCEED_DEST = 1 writes to one destination (/arch1 or /arch2)and synchronize the logs if the second destination is available.
