When trying to extend a datafile I get an 03296 error saying file name unknown. This datafile and tablespace is known by system and can be seen in relevant views. If I backup to control file the datafiel can also be seen. We can extend other files so system has enough space. There is also enough space on the UNIX o/s. Any clues please. I'm especially concerned that if we bounce Oracle it may not recognice the file and therefore not come up. We've missed some backups recently so we dont want to have to do any type of restore...thanks

Found answer thanks. The file had a space at the end when it was created so if you query it in v$datafiles with like it finds it but if you use the full path name without the space or %'s it didn't.
